Dear FPC Friends and Family,

After the storms...

We all feel the weight of so many heartaches in Thomasville and across the Southeast.  We have already seen an outpouring of support for the Copeland and Langstrom families.  We cannot always understand why things happen, but we can be a part of what happens next.

Here's how you can get involved in bringing light to people in dark places after the storm.

1. North Carolina Baby Supplies

  • Diapers

  • Wipes

  • Formula

  • Bottled Water

Malory Jones will be headed to Western, NC, and is collecting supplies needed for young moms.  Drop off your donated supplies at 142 Seward Street on Wednesday (10/2) between 4-6 PM.

2. Valdosta/Lakeland Supplies

  • Diapers/Pull Ups

  • Wipes

  • Baby Food

  • Flash Lights

  • Batteries

  • Feminine Products

  • Toilet Paper

  • Paper Towels

  • Shelf Stable Food/Ready-to-Eat Meals & Snacks

  • Snacks

  • Teddy Bears/Lovies/Toys

  • (no clothes needed!)

All supplies can be dropped off at the FPC Student Building (110 N. Crawford Street) this Thursday & Friday (October 3rd & 4th) between 11am and 1pm.  On Sunday, a team from Lakeland will be picking up the supplies and distributing it to those who need it most through the American Red Cross.

3. Valdosta General Clean-up

Samaritan’s Purse is organizing groups.  Austin Reams is organizing a group to go over and help this Sunday.  We need you to sign up right away so we can give Sam's Purse a heads-up and tell you what you need to bring.

4. Valdosta Tree Removal

If you have any special skills and equipment for tree removal, please click the following link to sign up to help with a house in Valdosta. We don't have a date and time for this yet.

5. Second Harvest Food Distribution

Second Harvest is organizing volunteers at their Valdosta facility. At the following link you, can select a date and activity and sign-up as an individual, family, small group, or Sunday school. Here is the link.

Second Harvest is collecting supplies in pods to send over to the most affected areas in our region. We will also pass on information about that in our next communication.

6. Student Ministry Group

Student Ministry is organizing a trip to Valdosta to work with Second Harvest. If you're part of that program or have a son who is a junior or senior, reach out to Tyler Wilson to get involved at twilson@fpcthomasville.org.

As always, I’m grateful for our congregation, especially in times when many of you are eager to find opportunity within crisis.

Dark night, bright stars—

Your friend and Pastor,

Tim

Then your light will break forth like the dawn, and your healing will quickly appear; then your righteousness will go before you, and the glory of the LORD will be your rear guard.
